Do I need an ID to use equal health?Yes, equal health requires a photo ID such as a valid driver’s license or state ID to verify your identity and your age when you book an appointment.

How does equal health work?Equal health offers healthcare services catered to the LGBTQIA+ community. We offer both single visits and membership plans. Single visits allow you to pay as you go for all of our health care services services. Membership plans are offered on a month-to-month basis for most of our health care services.

What is equal health's cancellation policy?Membership and Non-Membership Services: If you cancel your Equal Health subscription or appointment before your virtual visit and before receiving your prescription medication, you will receive a refund within a reasonable time after cancelation, less any payment processing fees. Pay As You Go / Per Visit / Non-Membership Services: If you elect pay as you go pricing, we cannot provide refunds for appointments and services after you have already been seen by your provider. Refunds will be provided before appointments, if canceled at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled appointment, less any payment processing fees. No shows for all appointments are non-refundable. Membership Services (including weight management): membership services are based on a 1-month term ("Term") that begins at the time of your virtual visit. Cancellation of your membership must occur prior to your virtual visit and before process and receipt of your 1-month prescription medication*. If you choose to cancel after your virtual visit, you will still be responsible for the full 1-month term of services. While you may cancel at any time, your request will not take effect until after the expiration of your current Term. While your membership plan is still active, you will have continued access to all membership services included in your membership plan. If you request 3-month prescription medications** you will be responsible for paying for a 3-month term of services up front prior to receiving the 3-month prescription medications. *1-month prescription medication means a 30-day supply of medication. **3-month prescription medications mean a 90-day supply of medication or a 30-day supply of medication with 2 refills. ​ For Weight Management Membership services: partial refunds are provided (minus the Starter Visit cost) and any applicable payment processing fees) after the first virtual visit if your health insurance does not cover Ozempic, Wegovy or Mounjaro weight management medications. Please email info@getequalhealth.com if you would like to cancel your subscription. Once we receive your request, our team will review your account details, and will notify you of any remaining payments or outstanding balance. After your account details have been confirmed, your cancellation request will be processed within 14-21 business days. An email confirmation will be sent to you once your subscription has been cancelled. Our Cancellation and Refunds policy applies regardless of any changes that may occur regarding the types of care permitted by law in your area.

What is telehealth?Telehealth, also known as telemedicine, is used to access health care services without needing an in-person office visit with your healthcare provider. Telehealth is primarily done in the form of a virtual or online visit using internet access from your computer, tablet or smartphone.

What is a virtual visit?A virtual visit is an online visit with your healthcare provider that is performed using both video and audio technology. A virtual visit is conducted using internet access from your computer, tablet or smartphone.

Can equal health be my primary care provider?Currently, equal health does not offer primary care services. Therefore, equal health cannot serve as your primary care provider. Please see the Our Services page for the most up to date list of health care services that are offered.

How can I reach my equal health care provider?You can contact your healthcare provider using secure messaging through the Patient Portal. Your provider will respond to your message within three business days.

Can I use equal health if I am under 18?Currently, equal health is only able to serve patients who are 18 and older. Please join our email list so that we can stay in touch. What do I do if I have a medical emergency?Please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room if you are experiencing a medical emergency. For non-emergent medical issues related to your membership services, you can reach out to your equal health provider using the Patient Portal.

This plan includes monthly virtual visits with your LGBTQIA+ specialized health care provider, unlimited messaging with your health care team, lab orders and result analysis and more!

What health care services does equal health provide?Equal health offers per visit (single visit) and monthly membership plans for different health care services. As part of our membership plans, we offer Gender-Affirming Hormone Therapy/HRT, HIV Prevention/PrEP, HIV Treatment, Weight Management and Mental Health care services. Can I get hormone replacement therapy (HRT) if I am cisgender*?At this time we are only serving people that are looking for gender-affirming hormone therapy. Therefore, we are not prescribing hormone replacement therapy, such as testosterone or estrogen, to cisgender people. *Cisgender means your gender identity corresponds to your sex assigned at birth.

Do I need to be a member to access health care services?No, you can access any of our health care services without being a member, however, it is more cost effective to become a member.

Does equal health provide letters of support for gender-affirming surgery?Yes! We provide medical provider letters of support for gender-affirming surgery as part of our Gender-Affirming Hormone Therapy/HRT membership plans. We also provide medical provider letters of support as a non-membership service for a one-time fee. Letter requirements vary based on surgeon, health insurance plan and state you live in. Be sure to obtain this information before you request a letter. Letter requests take 5-10 business days to process. Talk to your healthcare provider during your scheduled virtual visit or send them a secure message through the Patient Portal to learn more. Currently equal health is not able to provide mental health provider letters of support for gender-affirming surgery.

How much do equal health's services cost?At Equal health, we offer our services at a very low cost. A majority of our services are offered in a membership plan including gender-affirming hormone therapy/HRT, HIV prevention/PrEP, HIV treatment, weight management and mental health services. We also offer per-visit services including all of the above health care services, as well as, sexual health and gender affirming medical letters of support. If you are interested in membership, we offer a Silver Membership plan ($29/month + $69 starter visit cost) and a Gold Membership plan ($49/month + $129 starter visit cost). The starter visit cost is $25 with accepted health insurance. If you are interested in the Pay As You Go option, we offer single visits for each health care service ($69 per visit without accepted health insurance). Single visits are $25 with accepted health insurance. We don't include the cost of labs or prescription medications in the cost, however, if you have health insurance you can go through health insurance to cover the cost of your labs and prescription medications. Out-of-pocket cost of labs range from $55-$265, depending on the labs being ordered. Check out our lab partner, Grassroots Labs to learn more. What if my legal name is different than the name listed on my health insurance card?If your legal name is different than the name listed on your health insurance card, it is possible that your insurance will deny coverage of your labs or prescriptions. Please reach out to your health insurance company directly in order to resolve the issue.

Can I use my HSA/FSA for equal health?Yes, our health care services are HSA/FSA eligible. You can use your HSA/FSA to pay for prescription medications and labs that are ordered as part of your equal health membership plan.

Does equal health accept health insurance?Yes! We accept health insurance in certain states and are diligently working to add more insurance plans. Additionally, all of our services are HSA/FSA eligible. Your health insurance can also be used to cover the cost of your labs at your preferred lab, and the cost of prescriptions at your local pharmacy. Please note: Health insurance is needed to cover the cost of prescription medications, such as Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro, which are part of our Weight Management health care service. Where can I find my lab orders?If you are going through your health insurance to have lab work drawn, you can find the lab test orders in the Patient Portal after your health care provider has ordered the selected labs. If you are paying out-of-pocket, your health care provider will direct you to the Grassroots Labs website to order specific lab tests directly.

How do labs work with an equal health subscription?Equal health has partnered with Grassroots Labs for all of your out-of-pocket lab testing needs.* Start by visiting the Grassroots Labs website where the Equal Health lab testing panels are listed. Once your health care provider tells you which panel to purchase, you can order directly through the Grassroots Labs website! You can then schedule your lab appointment or walk-in to a lab facility near you to get your blood work drawn. You will require a valid photo ID (i.e., Driver's license or State-Issued ID) at the time of your lab visit. Additionally Grassroots Labs will ask for your legal name and sex assigned at birth as part of the registration process. If you prefer to go through your insurance to cover the cost of labs, Equal health can provide you with a lab orders letter through the Patient Portal. You can take this lab orders letter to your preferred lab to have your lab tests drawn. Whether or not you go through insurance, once you receive your lab results, you can send them to your health care provider as an attachment to a new message in the Patient Portal. *Please note that additional costs may apply for certain tests if the tests require reflex testing. What if the name on my insurance card differs from the name on my ID for labs?We are required to submit your lab orders under the name on your legal photo ID.

Does my equal health subscription include the cost of labs?No, the cost of labs is not included in any equal health subscription. The cost of labs will vary depending on what specific labs are being ordered by your health care provider. We have partnered with Grassroots Labs that discounts our lab orders by 30-70% off the regular market price!

Does equal health offer at-home prescription medication delivery?Yes! We offer at-home prescription delivery through our pharmacy partners. Can my prescription medications be sent to my local pharmacy?Yes! Your healthcare provider will ask you to provide them with your local pharmacy information during your virtual visit in order to electronically prescribe your prescription medications directly to your preferred pharmacy.

What name will my prescription medications be found under at my local pharmacy?We are required to send your prescription medications to your local pharmacy under the name on your legal ID (i.e., driver's license).
